“Buildings, too, are creatures of the Earth and Sun.”
– Frank Lloyd Wright
As some of you are aware, I’m in the midst of building a house with my own two hands. It’s being built using mostly material harvested from the land: trees, stone, etc. And then reclaimed materials, windows, doors, lumber, etc,.
The idea: to get off the grid. To get a roof over my head to reduce my expenses so that it becomes more and more plausible to make a living off my art and writing. It’s going to take awhile. I started off knowing nothing. I’m no contractor. But now that the roof is going on, I think I can call myself a builder. Maybe not the classic type, but I’ve been learning as I go, and, really, you don’t know how to do something until you do.
I’ll post updates as I can. Enjoy!
